Fundamentals of Electric Motors

The electric motor is based on converting electrical energy into mechanical (turning of its axis). It has attributes such as reduced cost, simple construction, easy transportation, cleanliness, high efficiency and easy adaptation to loads of many types, allow the electric motor to be the most used of all existing engine models. There are a wide variety of motors, but we can classify them into two large groups: direct current and alternating current.

DC motors 200-4C 10FT are high-cost motors requiring special power supply, which can be a direct current source or application of components capable of transforming alternating current into direct current (rectifiers to thyristors). They need a permanent maintenance program due to the “flashing” (switching) of their brushes. As benefits of this engine, we can cite: superior torque in relation to the small dimensions of the engine, great flexibility and precision control due to the high range of speed adjustment values. The use of this type of motor is reserved for special situations in which such requirements balance the high cost of the installation.
