The Operation and Application of the Linear Motor

The linear electric motor comes from the three-phase induction electric motor, where the windings are planned, and instead of a rotating field, generates a magnetic field of linear displacement displacement.

We can say that if we open a traditional induction motor so that it makes a movement in line, without the need of mechanical couplings, we will have a linear motor.

Its operation is based on the displacement of a force and they can have different elements to be displaced, and either can be a field-generating element or a rotoric plate.

Linear motors have the advantage of good starting torque, low maintenance costs and constant speed. It requires an electronic inverter for speed control, which makes it a disadvantage because it increases its cost in its acquisition. Its use is restricted to some applications of robotics, electric traction systems in launching aircraft carriers and high-speed trains.

The linear electric motor is divided into types:

– linear motor from a rotary motor; transformer acme gp125000s

– linear tubular motor;

– flat linear motor.
